Children younger than 2 are in a critical period of brain development that requires hands on learning. Screen time should be avoided beyond video chats with relatives. Children older than 2 are at a stage in brain development where tablets or computer apps can be implemented educationally in limited and interactive fashion, with parents still acting as the teacher. Parents still must play the key role in their child’s learning, using the device as a medium to interact and learn with their child. Educational apps offer much more to your 2+ year old child’s development than video clips or movies. With kids counting down to the last day of school, we’re all looking forward to warm weather, free time and family adventures. But for a lot of parents (and kids, too!) the lack of structure and changes in routine can make those long summer days a struggle.Children may feel liberated from classes and homework, but parents often feel more responsibility to keep kids occupied (without resorting to Fortnite!) and behavior on track. So while everyone else is gearing up for summer fun you may find yourself wondering how you’ll make it all work. Is a drug holiday right for your child with ADHD? Do you have an anxious child who’s going to summer camp? Do family vacations require extra prep to make them successful for your kids? We’ve got you. We will be trying our best to be available for your child’s needs this week during the blizzards. We will remain available for sick visits for those who are able to safely travel. If conditions merit, we may delay preventive visits…to prevent accidents in slippery weather. Please do not travel if conditions are unsafe or your vehicle isn’t prepared for bad weather. We’ll do our best to keep our lot as plowed as possible for access, but please be cautious. As always, we’ll be available by phone and email as well. Have fun in the snow, and stay safe and cozy!
