Now that Summer’s finally here, don’t forget to protect your family with sunscreen. Keep a bottle by the door so you remember! The above guide rates based on relative toxicity of ingredients, not effectiveness, but many products are both safe and effective. As always with sunscreens, test a small patch on the back or leg before applying a new product all over the body or face. Make sure to cover the lips, nose, and ears. Don’t forget the sunglasses, hats, sun protective clothing, and extra water! Reapply often if in the sun for more than an hour, especially if water or sweating is involved, even if it’s a water resistant version. Limit peak hour sun exposure. Be safe in the sun and have fun!
